Dhananjay Mukherjee

The Green God : The predominant green colour on this planet is the colour of life, resurrection and youth, the balance between the warm and the cold colours symbolize harmony and sympathy. God pervades every cell and atom of the universe with green and spreads his divine effulgent aura everywhere. In my paintings I imagine the divine inside every green form, be it a plant, a tree trunk or even a leaf. In the dense forests, you can actually see the shape of nature forming faces in the dark. The face in my paintings is also carved out of a leaf with leaf motifs forming the eyes and lips and are designed to inculcate faith in nature. Just as we have faith in god, we should have faith in greenery and nature also, because nature itself is a God who gives us every thing that we need in our life.. “SO WHY NOT PRAY TO GREEN WHO IS A GOD” ??

    The Eight "Impressionist" Exhibitions, 1874-1886

In 1874, the Anonymous Society of Painters, Sculptors, Engravers, etc. exhibited their works at the former studio of the photographer Nadar (Gaspard-Felix Tournachon, 1820-1910) at 35 Boulevard des Capucines in Paris. Dubbed the Impressionists by the critics that year, the group did not adopt the name until 1877.
